Co-curricular programs

At Kearsley Public School, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular activities offer students a variety of opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community.

Sport

We run a specialised Gymnastics Program each year and Intensive Swimming program. We utilise our local grounds for some sports sessions and are beginning to build a growing interest in tennis. We also participate in the Premier's Sporting Challenge.

 

Students 8 years and over compete in Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) Competitions and Gala Days dependent on coaches and students in for example soccer, league, basketball and netball.

 

All students, K-6 participate in a combined Athletics Carnival and Cross Country events. Students 8 years or above are eligible to compete in our School Swimming Carnival. Many of our students trial for Zone teams and represent our school at both Zone and Regional levels. 

 

 

 

 

Public Speaking

We offer opportunity to develop skills in this area and run an in school competition and participate in the Zone and Wiyala Public Speaking Competition. 

 

 

 

Dance Group

We have a primary dance group that perform at school events and enjoy participating in Hunter Region Dance Festival.

 

 

 

 

Lunchtime Activities

We have raised garden beds and grow seasonal vegetables. Our students can feed and interact with our chickens, participate in art and craft and small world play. We also offer interest activities such as dance, skipping and filming. Students enjoy our ping pong table and access to a range of sporting euipment.

 

 

 

Our Ga Ga Pit is a hit! Gaga Ball is a dynamic and inclusive game, akin to a faster-paced handball or dodgeball, Students build co-ordination skills as well as resilence and sportsmanship.

Library

Apart from our great selection of books, students can participate in board games, building, jigsaws, STEM, chess and drawing. There's something for everyone in our wonderful school library.
